15-10-2025  John Voss

John Voss was a founder member of the Market Harborough Art Club back in 1963, where they first met in the library premises which was on The Square at that time. The first meeting attracted over 70 members. His recent death brought about the sale of quite a few of his paintings at Gildings auctioneers in 2024. His style of painting was very much in the style of surrealism. Unfortunately, I am not able to give you a date for these paintings. These are just four of the many images I have of his work, the fourth being a self portrait. They are all oils. Frank Bingley

6-9-2024  Valley of the Rocks, Lynton 1980, by K W Coales

This painting held by Carole White - MHAC member during the 70’s and 80’s. On the back is attached a note which says: Startled by a voice while painting this, fell off her stool, had the sense to curl into a ball and roll through nettles to the bottom of the slope. Opening her eyes she saw bishop’s gaiters, owner anxious about her welfare, hoisted her to her feet, retrieving her brushes.
