3-12-2024  Paint a Christmas Card

At our last meeting of the year we had the seasonal subject of ‘Paint a Christmas card’. There was a good turnout considering the chesty virus floating around Harborough, a few of our members were affected by this. The room was very quiet at the beginning as everyone concentrated, determined to finish their card by the end of the evening. At coffee break we were treated to some delicious mince pies baked for us by Suzette. Thank you so much, you may have the job every December now!!!! The designs and styles were very varied as usual, Jessica embroidered some mistletoe and Alison sprinkled salt on her shiny balls. As you can see from the photos they were all very good. After a successful evening we all wished each other a very Happy Christmas and said ‘See you next year’

4-11-2024  Torn Paper Evening

Our torn paper evening was very successful, everyone was chatty and enthusiastic. Some people had come prepared with a sketch and paper already sorted into colours. Others started from scratch with a pile of magazines and a blank piece of cardboard. This inevitably meant that some people didn’t get their picture completed, but hopefully they will finish it at home and post the result on our MHAC Facebook page. By coffee time the room looked like an explosion in a paper mill! After the break everyone settled down frantically ripping, tearing and sticking. There was paper stuck to hair and clothes as well as the piece they were working on but led to some stunning artwork. We cleared the mess in record time and by 9.30 you would never have known we’d been in the room. (Apart from the very full waste paper bins)

12-10-2024  Annual Exhibition 2024

Our annual exhibition took place on the 12th-13th October. The committee did an excellent job hanging all the exhibits in the theatre lounge. The volunteers who helped on the door and in the kitchen did a fantastic job. The Saturday was very busy and endless cups of tea and coffee were poured out to go with the amazing homemade cakes. Sunday saw noticeably fewer visitors but this was the day that had the best sales. Overall four exhibits from the main exhibition were sold and eleven unframed works. After Sally, our club treasurer, had totted up it showed we had made a slightly larger profit than last year. Well done to everyone who took part, now to start painting ready for next year!!!!
